| Introduction
of new vaccines into the Expanded Programme on Immunisation
(EPI) in Southern Africa; public health, educational
and economical aspects

General objectives
- Become acquainted with health economics of immunisation.
- Review of public health aspects of the new and underused
vaccines and related vaccine preventable diseases.
- Reinforce team building of national immunisation
experts from the 'medical schools' (nurses, doctors,
public health workers, and other related professionals)
and from the EPI programme.
Specific objectives
- Discuss financing options and financial sustainability
of immunisation programmes (EPI) within and outside
the GAVI context.
- Update on scientific aspects of current and future
childhood vaccines and related diseases.
- Review of draft pre-service curricula and training
documents for nurses/medical students.
