The Network for Education and Support in Immunisation
(NESI) was officially launched on 1 September 2002.
NESI builds upon the former International Network for
Eastern and Southern Africa on Hepatitis B Vaccination,
a collaboration established in Africa in 1999 (local
universities, ministries of health, and the University
of Antwerp) that focused on the introduction of new
vaccines. NESI is utilising this network’s extensive
experience in delivering training in Africa and expanding
the focus to deliver additional activities, such as
capacity building for the Expanded Programme on Immunisation
(EPI), curriculum revision, and the development of training
documents.
